Nightmare Before Christmas 2 Disk (Blu-ray + DVD),
Nightmare Before Christmas [Blu-ray]
Since there are a number of reviews listed on previous releases of this movie which describe the storyline of The Nightmare Before Christmas, I will just mention that I saw it when it was originally released in the movie theaters and have been a fan ever since. After being unable to find out sufficient details about the technical specs of this 2010 release on the Amazon and Disney websites, I decided to find out the information by visiting a “Big Box” store so that I could physically look at the Blu-ray/DVD cover. This version contains one Blu-ray disk and one DVD disk. The Blu-ray specs listed on the box are 1080p, with a 1:66:1 aspect ratio. The DVD specs are shown as “original theatrical format” with a 1:66:1 aspect ratio. If you do not already own a Blu-ray player, this version will work best.
After considering this information, I decided to order the Blu-ray + Digital (2008 release) from Amazon since I did not have any use for another standard DVD in my collection, and the Blu-ray disk has the same aspect ratio of 1:66:1. The Nightmare Before Christmas [Blu-ray] + Digital Copy The picture quality on this Blu-ray shows a vast improvement over the DVD Special Edition released in 2000.
For anyone who is a fan of this movie and is considering purchasing a Blu-ray version, I would tell them that it is definitely worth the upgrade.

|The Nightmare Before Christmas,
At first I gave this DVD a 3 star rating, I think it deserves 4. It’s a very entertaining movie but rather cheap packaging (DVD on demand). The packaging is not 3D like the version bought at Hasting, Best Buy, etc. The movie itself is good, I liked it and the quality is pure. The whole packaging thing really gets to me though. In the near future I will be buying the 2 disc version from either Hastings or Best Buy. The Film: 9/10 – Packaging: 2/10.
* Bonus Features
1. What’s this? Jack’s Haunted Mansion Holiday Tour
2. Tim Burton’s Original Poem (Narrated By Christopher Lee)
3. Audio Commentary By Tim Burton, Director Henry Selick And Music Designer Danny Elfman
4. Behind-The-Scenes Making Of “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas”

|Beautiful in 3D,
I love this movie. I have it on Laser Disc, DVD, Blu-Ray and now on Blu-Ray 3D. This version on 3D has a beautiful transfer. It’s like being inside the movie with the puppets. the aspect ratio from this 3D version has change from 1:66 to 1:85 to fill the screen.The 3D effects are very subtle since this movie was not shot in 3d originally; but the convertion is very good. If you love this movie and have a 3D capable TV this is a no brainer.

|3D as value added feature works,
I only had this film on DVD and needed an excuse to upgrade, this combo package gave me the excuse I needed. I am a huge fan of 3D when it is done right, and I recognize converted films don’t always look great in 3D, but this one is actually pretty nice. The 3D does work very well by way of adding depth to the film, it’s like you’re watching through a window, though this feature is more like a value added bonus, it doesn’t really add anything to the film itself because the film was not originally intended to be a 3D film. Still it looks good as a nice bonus and you shouldn’t shy away from this package, especially if you were turned off by Clash of the Titans, this film makes the case that you can have good 3D conversions.
